Our website is not meant to be viewed as
a catalog. Yes, you may like the look of a particular dog, but that does not
necessarily mean that dog's personality is a match for your family or lifestyle.
Our adoption success rate is very high and we are quite proud of our program and
its standards. Our main concern is finding loving, forever homes for the dogs in
our program.
Medical care and careful screening before placement of a rescued dog are very
important to the dog’s welfare. Every animal taken in by our rescue program is
examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated, and tested for heartworm, de-wormed if
necessary and provided with any other needed medical treatment. All animals are
then spayed or neutered to help decrease the staggering numbers of unwanted
pets.
Hand Me Down Dobes, Inc. relies solely on donations and fund-raising activities
for its support. Your adoption fee helps
to defray the cost of rescuing and caring for these wonderful animals. Our
adoption fees
for adult dogs is $275.00 and puppies (under 6 months) are $375.00.
Microchip registration is included in these fees.
In order to be approved as an adopter, you must start the process by completing and submitting an adoption application. This can be done on-line or by mail. To complete the process online, fill out an online application, or download an adoption form to mail later.
We can only consider applications where our volunteers can do home visits -
currently Ohio, northern Kentucky, northwest Pennsylvania and some parts of
Indiana, Michigan and West Virginia.
If you need additional information on specific dogs, an application must be
completed. Once an application is completed, feel free to email us at
adoptions@hmdd.org or call our hotline
at 614-470-2851.
We know we all can’t all be pretty, but we all have wonderful personalities.
Please don’t judge us on looks alone.
This list is updated as new dogs come into the program, so please check back
often. We try to keep the adoption status
as current as we can, but it is possible that the dogs listed here have been
adopted. To view a dog's profile, click on the name
at the left.
