Back in 1999, our family adopted a skinny, neglected Dobe from Hand Me Down Dobes. His name was Chili Pepper and my husband wasn't sure he wanted to adopt him because he didn't look too healthy. But, my heart told me to adopt him. We brought him home and nursed him back to health. He ended up being the sweetest Dobe we ever had. He loved children, cats and other dogs. He especially loved to sit on the couch and snuggle. He was a typical velcro Dobe. Sadly, on August 16, 2009 he was taking his nightly walk with my husband and other Dobe, Bosco, and suddenly collapsed. By the time my husband called me and I arrived with the car, he had passed. He died of a massive heart attack. Luckily for him he passed quickly, but it left us devastated. Chili Pepper will always be in our hearts and will be missed by all that met him. I hope he is running and playing with the other Dobes in Doggy Heaven.
